Steven Haas, a San Francisco native, is an artist specializing in collage, assemblage, and sculpture. His work draws inspiration from Expressionism, Pop Art, Surrealism, and cinematic movements such as Film Noir and German Expressionism. In addition to exhibiting his art in galleries, cafés, and restaurants, Steven also experiments with avant-garde film clips. He is a published author and a guitarist, occasionally performing solo.

From a golden-shower-fueled soccer rivalry to a Marxist's doomed political run (complete with a Meatloaf lookalike), these tales spiral into absurdity. Throw in Uncle Fester’s existential crisis with giant erasers (or dildos?), an unhinged soccer player with no shame (or clothes), and a prank involving a Finnish moocher, a Brazilian gay man, and a whole lot of sexual confusion. AVANTGARDE REEL
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Steven curated and captured a series of evocative images using his phone, sourcing footage from various locations and moments. Through meticulous editing, he montaged these clips together, applying a range of filters and effects to craft over 50 short experimental reels. Each reel is accompanied by a carefully selected soundtrack, enhancing its emotional and visual impact. This presentation seamlessly stitches together all of his reels into a continuous looping film, reflecting the influence of experimental and avant-garde filmmakers.
